Join Dr. Julie Bloxson, Dr. Jenn Wadsworth, and Chris Piela Cox for a two-day field trip that combines geology, history, and regional culture along beautiful Toledo Bend. Explore Wilcox Formation outcrops, learn the history and geology behind Toledo Bend’s formation, and how local climate and geology influence the East Texas wine industry.

Highlights of the Trip:

• Day 1: Start with a morning introduction at Piney Woods Vineyard, including a presentation on Toledo Bend's geology and history. Enjoy a scenic three-hour boat tour, followed by an evening of wine tasting and a catered dinner.
• Day 2: Another boating excursion provides hands-on opportunities to study geological features, followed by a wrap-up discussion at the winery over lunch.

Date: April 9-10th

Location: Hemphill, TX

Fee: $450 plus lodging 

Meals, boating, and materials are provided. Transportation is needed to Hemphill, TX. Lodging is extra and is recommended at Sandals & Spurs.
